Starting a blog
The blog system may be accessed via a few routes:
- From the "Blogs" menu in the top menu.
- From "Community" --> "Blogging" menu
This will open the blogging admin screen:
Click the "Write new entry" button at the top right of the blogging menu.
A new window will open that is the main blogging screen (see below)
On this window you enter the title at the top and your masterful, insightful text in the main white area. You have simple text editing buttons at the top of the screen: Bold, italic, left, right align etc. You can also add an image from this menu.
Note that the indent button 
actually creates "quoted" text. This has a special highlight and a speechmark.
Make sure that you select the correct category and tags (See "Options" below) from the menu on the right and click "Save".
That's it! Your blog is now published. You can also mark the blog as unpublished before you save - in this way you can work on an item before anyone else can see it.
Options
Publishing Options
These options control whether the article is visible to everyone else (i.e. Published) or only visible to you (unpublished). You can also change the publication date if you'd really like to do that.
The most important option here is "Select a caregory" where you set which category falses under. There are three options:
- Parish Blog - used for most articles and blogs.
- Vicars Blog - used by the vicars only
- Alive@Five - for blogs related directly to or about the Five O'clock service
Most users will enter blogs under the "Parish Blog" category. Simply select the required blog from the list.
Tags
Tags are keywords you attach to your blog. They are used to search for different articles and create the 'tag cloud' on the home page. You should add words that refer to your article or select already entered one.
Here we add a new tag called "this is a new tag" and click the "+" button:
Or you can select a previously enteredtag by clicking the 'Browse' button and then checking the boxes:
On the "assign" screen you now have your tags selected - i.e. 4 on the example below:
Images & Documents
Use this section to add an image or file already in the parish help website or upload a new one.
Simply locate an image and click on it to insert into the blog.
Search older posts
Often you may want to add a link to a previous blog. You can search for and item from this option and drag the link across into your blog.
To do this move the cursor of the link, click the left mouse button and hold it down, then 'drag' into the text editing window on the left. Let go the mouse button and the link will be copied.
Embed Videos
This option is currently not available.
